What types of sedation are available during surgery?
At Smile Again Florida, patient comfort is a top priority. We offer multiple sedation options so every patient can feel relaxed, at ease, and confident during their treatment.
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a mild form of sedation that helps you feel calm and relaxed during your procedure. You remain awake and aware. It works and wears off quickly, and you can typically drive yourself home afterward.
- You can also take a prescribed medication prior to your appointment that will make you feel deeply relaxed and may even cause you to become drowsy. Many patients remember little to nothing about the procedure. You will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
- IV sedation is a deeper level of sedation. This is the sedation level we recommend for implant patients. You will be in a very relaxed, sleep-like state and will not feel
discomfort. You may not remember the procedure and will need a driver and time to recover afterward.

What can I expect on the day of my surgical appointment?
On the day of your procedure, any remaining teeth are removed (if needed), and dental implants are placed strategically in the jaw. In most cases, patients leave the same day with a temporary set of fixed teeth, so you’re never without a smile.
